Concept

Hearth is an interactive, digital fireplace implemented as a catalyst for emphasising the principles underlying a hearth. It is intended to bring people together by providing a warm and welcoming ambience.

Our installation, Hearth, is the representation of nutritional intake regarding the products purchased at Artos Café. The system focuses mainly on the energy consumed by customers (participants). A fire requires three elements to remain alive: fuel, oxygen and heat. Similar to a fire, hearth is kept alive via the accumulation of energy found in the products participants purchase. It is the energy within these food and drink products that acts as the fuel source vital for hearth’s active state.
