Welcome to stoneykun.com, the online portfolio of Adam Russell Stone. I am a recent Sydney University graduate achieving a Bachelor of Design Computing. Ever since I was a young lad I have always been quite creative and very interested in new media and computer technology. Design Computing has provided me with the foundation and insight into the broad computer design (new media) realm. I walk away from the course a highly versatile and skilled individual with the ability and aspiriration to learn new tools and technologies. I am hoping to move into the new media design industry so I can gain further experience, knowledge and inspiration. Aside from my obvious passion for new media design, my other hobbies and interests include: photography, screen printing, music production (DJ'ing and mixing), football (soccer) and fishing. Creative Design Porfolio
Zork - 3D Animation Short
Tools - Maya, Premiere, Photoshop. A highly involved project where the final submission was a short animation (approx. 40 seconds). The focus was on bi-pedal character animation, hence effort was put towards mastering walk-cycles and object interaction.
Graphic Design - UI Design
Tools - Photoshop, Wacom. A collection of user-interfaces I have developed mainly for personal use. Some feature a variety of out-sourced fonts, brushes and stock photography.
Kospeak - Mobile Phone Applet
Tools - Nokia S60, Flash, MySQL, PHP, Illustrator. An individual project of great substance and relevance to real-world situations. Focusing on a developing Aboriginal community, Kowanyama, I developed a mobile phone application that bridges the gap between the youths and elders. The system allows users to communicate in relation to local issues and represents communication in the form of a dynamic Aboriginal art piece.
Myspace - Personal Profile
Tools - Photoshop, CSS. Proving to be a very difficult personal project, I completely customised my Myspace profile. I had to overcome a lot of poor and redundant default code in order for the profile to render correctly in the Internet browsers of use today.
Hearth - Interactive Installation
Tools - Flash, C-Bus Toolkit, XML, Webcam, Barcode Scanner, Projector. Hearth is an interactive, digital fireplace using visual and tactile stimulus to represent the consumption of food at a nearby cafe. This Flash application was developed by myself and two others and projected onto a column resembling a fireplace.
Graphic Design - Wallpapers
Tools - Photoshop, Illustrator, Wacom. A collection of large-scale wallpapers I designed during my own personal time. These works required many hours of illustration, manipulation and brushing in order to achieve the desired results.
dn'bDemo - A Real-time Demo
Tools - Virtools Dev, Flash, PHP, Webcam, Microphone. This is a demo visualising the relationship between two datasets. A small Flash application collects real-time microphone and webcam activity, which controls the visual properties of the demo. The demo is choreographed to a Drum n' Bass track, which I personally chose.
Graphic Design - Postcards
Tools - Photoshop, Wacom. A collection of medium-size graphics that I have designed. They are tributes to some of my favourite emcees/rappers from the USA. I adapted photographs, brushes and fonts from various sources on the web.
ChangeX - Official Website
Tools - Photoshop, XHTML, CSS, PHP. A freelance, pro bono web development project involving the online marketing and promotion of the ChangeX 2007 exhibition. As well as designing and coding the layout, I built a basic CMS in order to assist the content developer.
Graphic Design - Banners
Tools - Photoshop, Wacom. A collection of mini banner graphics that I have designed. Some of the works are completely hand-illustrated, whilst others use outside media.
CAD - Object Model
Tools - Microstation. The task required me to accurately model, to scale an object of choice. I chose to model a mobile handset as it provided a challenge to overcome the intricacies of its form. The model texture had a very small weighting as the focus was on shape.
Galaxy Hero - Scrolling Shooter
Tools - Director, Photoshop, Illustrator. This is a game I developed for an intense yet rewarding, Interactive Multimedia course. The game takes the form of a classic arcade style scrolling shooter.
